KCPE and KCSE to be collected and Administered Twice a Day
David Njengere, the CEO of the Kenya National Examinations Council, has issued a set of guidelines in preparation for the 2023 national examinations.
As per Njengere, the KCSE exams will have two collection points daily. The morning paper will be collected and returned when the afternoon paper is gathered.
He made these announcements on Monday at the KNEC headquarters, marking the start of the examination season.
Njengere revealed that starting this year, KCSE papers would be collected twice from the container. They plan to use 576 distribution centers for storing Kenya Primary School Education Assessment and KCPE exams, along with 567 containers for distributing KCSE papers.
Furthermore, Njengere mentioned the acquisition of 82 additional containers to facilitate the process, especially for the newly established sub-counties lacking containers. The council has mapped examination centers to nearby distribution points, which might result in some centers collecting materials from neighboring sub-counties or adjacent counties.

To enhance security, unauthorized personnel won’t be allowed in examination centers. Njengere stressed the importance of allowing only authorized individuals, like center managers, supervisors, and invigilators, into examination centers, requesting strict enforcement.
Center managers will need to compile a list of on-duty support personnel and submit it to sub-county directors of education before the exams start.
The council plans to conduct a comprehensive briefing and sensitization of all exam administrators from October 2 to 6, encouraging in-person attendance.
Routine monitoring of examinations will take place, and Njengere urged all to visit examination centers when the exams begin to ensure compliance with exam administration procedures and regulations.
He assured that sufficient preparations have been made to avoid disruptions due to El Nino rains.
