Moses Kuria, MP for Gatundu South, now claims that Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka was paid Ksh 3 billion as a “transfer fee” to entice him back to the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance.
Kuria claimed in a scathing Facebook post that Kalonzo received the second-largest share ever received in the country to agree to tone down.
“Transfer fee….Ksh 3 Billion. It is only second to the Ksh 10 Billion that Jakom got to cool down the country after 2017. Well done SKM. Hata wewe sio mtoto wa paka,” Kuria wrote on Facebook.
He made the unsubstantiated claim just hours after Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana hinted that Kalonzo might rejoin Raila Odinga’s faction.
Kalonzo left Azimio after Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua was chosen to deputize Odinga, a position the Wiper boss had been eyeing.
Kalonzo’s allies and party members reportedly voted a few days ago to have him reconcile with Odinga.
Kalonzo Among 22 Presidential Aspirants
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) disqualified 22 more Presidential candidates on Wednesday, May 25, after they failed to meet the deadline for submitting signatures from their supporters.
The race now has 22 candidates whose supporters’ signatures were verified by the IEBC before the deadline.
The newly approved list demonstrates Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s determination to be on the ballot after failing to secure the running mate spot in the Azimio La Umoja coalition.
Kalonzo will now face former ally and Azimio la Umoja candidate Raila Odinga, as well as Kenya Kwanza’s preferred candidate, William Ruto.
David Mwaure of the Agano Party, Jimmy Wanjigi of the Safina Party, Mwangi Wa Iria (Usawa kwa Wote party), and Prof George Wajakoya are among those who have been approved (Roots party).
Grita Muthoni of Ford Asili and Justus Juma of the Justice and Freedom Party, as well as independent candidates Reuben Kigame, James Kamau, and Gibson Nganga, met the deadline.

Dorothy Kemuyu, Peter Mumbiko, Duncan Oduor, Faith Ngigi, Erastus Masira, and Jeremiah Nyagah are among the other approved independent candidates.
By Wednesday, all of the candidates were expected to have gathered and presented at least 2,000 signatures from supporters in at least 24 counties.
Previously, the list had shrunk from a ballooned list of 55 aspirants at the start of the race, with 38 running as independents.
The number of independent candidates has shrunk to nine, having cleared the first hurdle in their bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta when he steps down in August.
Previously, the IEBC barred Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi, Democratic Party of Kenya’s Justin Muturi, and nine others from running in the election.
The 11 had not submitted their running mates.
