Jose Mourinho Reacts to Speculation Linking Paulo Dybala to Chelsea Transfer

Jose Mourinho is keen to retain Paulo Dybala at Roma

Jose Mourinho has remained evasive regarding Paulo Dybala’s future at Roma despite the Argentine being linked with a summer transfer to Chelsea.

This week, it was reported in Italy that Chelsea is interested in purchasing Dybala prior to the start of the new season to bolster Mauricio Pochettino’s attacking options.

Pochettino is reportedly a great admirer of Dybala, who has a release clause in his contract with Roma allowing clubs outside of Serie A to sign him for €12 million (£10 million).

Dybala played a crucial position in Mourinho’s squad last year, as Roma finished sixth in Serie A and were defeated by Sevilla in the Europa League final.

However, Mourinho claims he is oblivious of the clause that could result in Dybala’s departure prior to the start of the new season.

This week, Chelsea was linked to a bid for Paulo Dybala.

When queried about the clause in Dybala’s contract in light of Chelsea’s interest, Mourinho told reporters upon Saturday’s arrival in Rome:

“I don’t know anything about his contract.

‘But obviously I talk to Paulo like I do with all of my players.”

In May, Mourinho called Daniele Chiffi “the worst” referee he’d ever seen, resulting in a 10-day touchline suspension for the beginning of the new Serie A season.

“I am not surprised by anything,’ Mourinho said.

“With this heat in August, rather than sit on the bench I will be somewhere nice and cool with air conditioning.”
