Joao Cancelo’s departure from Manchester City is clearly on bad terms
Joao Cancelo is certainly departing Manchester City on bad terms, judging by his social media activities in the aftermath of his departure.
Football fans were taken aback on Monday afternoon when it was revealed that City were willing to loan Cancelo to Bayern Munich.
The transfer is anticipated to take place before the transfer window closes on Tuesday night, with the Bundesliga champions holding an option to purchase the full back at the conclusion of the season.
Even though Cancelo’s starting spot has been far from assured since his return from the World Cup last month, no one anticipated him to depart.
Apparently, the troubles for the former Juventus full back began at the end of last week, when he was left out of the starting lineup for the FA Cup match against Arsenal.
The Portugal star has apparently been vocal about his dissatisfaction with being an unused replacement in previous games, and is now regarded as disruptive.
Now it looks that the split will not be amicable, with the 28-year-old also dissatisfied with a segment of City’s fan base, which does exist.
Since the news emerged, a number of the club’s larger social media fan accounts have been blocked by their soon-to-be former player.
“On Instagram, Joao Cancelo has blocked everybody associated with Manchester City. To do such a trivial thing, he must have departed on poor terms “one supporter stated.
“He going to be releasing a City diss track soon,” another joked, but after all it did work really well for Shakira.
Many made another joke, suggesting he’d been poor this season, with one such post saying, “To be fair that’s his first decent block of the season.”
In response to allegations of a dressing room collapse, a fourth said, “After this, I’m not even feeling sorry for Cancelo; it shows how much of a bad impact he was having inside the City camp.”
Another City supporter expressed his displeasure with the player, writing, “Better hope Bayern buys him or he’ll be playing with the reserves.”
Kyle Walker is being chased by Turkish giants Fenerbahce, and he isn’t the only full back who could leave the club in the near future.
Guardiola’s first-choice full backs have recently been replaced by Nathan Ake and Rico Lewis.
