How to apply for 36,000 TSC Promotions and Requirements
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has recently posted 36,275 job openings for promotions in accordance with the Career Progression Guidelines for educators.
As conveyed by TSC CEO Nancy Macharia, these vacancies cover roles including Chief Principal, Senior Principal, Principals, Deputy Principal, Senior Lecturer, Senior Master, Secondary Teacher I, Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher, and Senior Teacher.
To be eligible for promotions, candidates must meet the following criteria:
1. Possess a valid TSC registration as a teacher.
2. Achieve a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process.
Eligibility breakdown for various positions:
– Chief Principal (34 positions): At least three years as Senior Principal T-Scale 14.
– Senior Principal (108 positions): At least three years as Principal/Deputy Principal I, T-Scale 13.
– Principal (541 positions): Two years as Deputy Principal II/Senior Master I, T-Scale 12.
– Deputy Principal II (547 positions): Two years as Deputy Principal II/Senior Master I, T-Scale 12.
– Senior Lecturer I (72 positions): Minimum of three years as Senior Lecturer II, T-Scale 11.
– Deputy Principal III (1057 positions): Three years as Senior Master III, T-Scale 10.
– Senior Master III (1142 positions): Two years as Master IV, T-Scale 9.
– Senior Lecturer IV (216 positions): Three years as Lecturer I, T-Scale 8.
– Senior Master IV (12,716 positions): Two years as Secondary Teacher I, T-Scale 8.
– Secondary Teacher I (1928 positions): Three years as Secondary School Teacher II, T-Scale 7.
– Head Teacher (1049 positions): Three years as Deputy Head Teacher II, TSC Scale 9.
– Head Teacher (30 vacancies): Three years as Deputy Head Teacher II, TSC Scale 9.
– Deputy Head Teacher II (1930 positions): Three years as Senior Teacher I, T-Scale 8.
– Senior Teacher I (3040 vacancies): Three years as Senior Teacher II, T-Scale 7.
– Senior Teacher I (346 positions): Three years as Senior Teacher II, T-Scale 7.
– Senior Teacher II (10,819 positions): Three years as Primary Teacher I, T-Scale 6.
– Senior Teacher II (700 positions): At least three years as Primary Teacher I, T-Scale 6.

To apply:
1. Visit the TSC online portal at https://tsconline.tsc.go.ke/adverts or http://www.teachersonline.go.ke.
2. Click on “Actions” and then select “Apply.”
3. Log in using your TSC number and ID.
4. Complete the application details for the desired position.
5. Submit the application through the online portal.
All applications must be submitted online. In case of issues with the application website, manual submissions will not be accepted. The application deadline is September 8, 2023.
