How the SRC’s Review of Allowances Will Affect Different Sectors
In order to collect their opinions on reevaluating public sector allowances, the Salaries and Remunerations Commission (SRC) has contacted the Attorney General, the Controller of the Budget, and other organisations.
On August 8, 2023, Commission Chair Lyn Mengich released a circular outlining the rationale for the decision to implement fairness and transparency in the allowances system as well as to provide guidance to the government on how to manage the remuneration bill.
She stated that the panel’s second phase of examination has begun and will mostly concentrate on retreat, sitting, taskforce, and daily subsistence payments. The first phase was ultimately completed in 2022.
The Chief Justice, Governors, County Assembly Service Boards, Parliamentary Service Commission, and Cabinet Secretaries all received copies of the circular.
