Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) is opening its doors to TTC students for the first time.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has only accredited 35 of the country’s public Teacher Training Colleges.

All TTC students must be admitted to colleges through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), per a directive from the Ministry of Education.

Many students from low-income families have been able to finish their degrees thanks to the credit facility.

The new directive shifts responsibility from the Ministry of Education, which was previously responsible for selecting and placing students in public TTCs, to the KUCCPS.

Students applying to Teacher Education Programs at colleges must do so through the KUCCPS website.
