HELB has Extended First time Loan Application Deadline

The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has declared an extension for initial applications within the new funding model.

The application portal will remain accessible until October 7, 2023.

Steps for First-Time Applicants:

1. Start by accessing the Student Portal (via http://hef.co.ke) and select the “create an account” option for registration.

2. Once your account is successfully created, log in and choose the relevant Form, such as the TVET First Time Loan Application Form [TLAF].

3. Engage in financial literacy by reading relevant materials or watching educational videos, followed by participating in a brief online exercise.

4. Proceed to access and complete the loan application form.

5. Print two copies of the fully filled-out TVET Loan Application Form, which is mandatory.

6. Ensure that the forms are correctly filled out, signed, and stamped by the appropriate authorities.

7. Attach all the required documents as per the provided checklist.

8. Submit one copy of the completed Loan Application Form at either:

– Any of the designated Huduma centers closest to your location or the HELB Student Service Center in Nairobi.

9. Keep a complete copy of the TVET Loan Application Form for your own records.

Important Notes:

– Carefully read and follow the instructions provided at the start of the online loan application process, including participating in the HELB Financial Literacy Program.

– Responsibly manage your HELB loans once disbursed, covering tuition, books, stationery, accommodation, and living expenses.

Application Requirements:

– A copy of your institution’s admission letter.

– A copy of your National Identification Card.

– Your KCSE result slip or certificate.

– Copies of both parents’ National ID Cards or a death certificate if either parent is deceased.

– Copies of both guarantors’ National ID cards.

– A copy of your Bank ATM or bank card.

– One recent colored passport-size photograph of yourself.
