Harry Maguire is on the verge of leaving Manchester United, as Erik ten Hag prepares to cut FOUR players
Manchester United are prepared to release a number of first-team players this summer as Erik ten Hag seeks to restructure his squad and increase his transfer budget.
It has been reported that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has decided to sell Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho, Fred, and Scott McTominay this summer.
United have acquired Mason Mount from Chelsea for £60 million and are pursuing Andre Onana of Inter Milan and Ramsus Hojlund of Atalanta. But Ten Hag is also eager to reshape his team and has identified those he considers to be dead weight as Carrington’s preseason begins.
In 2022/23, Maguire endured a difficult season under Ten Hag’s management, as Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane were entrenched as the first-choice centre-back pairing. In order to streamline his roster, Ten Hag is now eager to trade the England defender.
The Independent reports that United have made Maguire available for transfer, valuing him at £50 million. Potential candidates, including West Ham, believe the 30-year-old, who has two years remaining on his contract with United, could be available for £35 million.
Gareth Southgate has told Maguire that he must play regular football if he is to start at Euro 2024. Maguire had been eager to compete for his United position, but he is now in a difficult position. West Ham is unable to match his current weekly salary of approximately £200,000 at United, which could be a potential stumbling block.
The remaining three players he wishes to sell may be simpler to move. McTominay’s contract expires in two years, and West Ham, Newcastle, Brighton, and Roma are interested in signing him. The 26-year-old Scotland international has made 209 appearances for the club’s first team, scoring 19 goals, and would command a transfer fee of approximately £25 million.

Scott McTominay is also on the verge of leaving Manchester United.
Fred is being monitored by Fulham, who could lose star player Joao Palhinha to West Ham as they search for Declan Rice’s replacement. The Brazilian midfielder has just one year remaining on his contract with United and may be available for a bargain price as Ten Hag attempts to make space in his roster.
Sancho has been offered to Spurs in an attempt to convince them to transfer Harry Kane. United paid Borussia Dortmund £77 million for the England winger in 2021, but he has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford.

Kane has entered the final year of his contract with Tottenham, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is hesitant to transfer their star player to a rival Premier League club. The 29-year-old, who scored 30 goals in the Premier League last season, has also been linked with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
United’s non-international players have returned to Carrington for preseason training. The club is actively pursuing Onana as David de Gea’s replacement, while Hojlund has surpassed Randal Kolo Muani as a potential forward signing.
Ten Hag is aware that United have a limited budget and that sales are necessary to increase his transfer budget in light of the uncertainty caused by the acquisition saga. According to The Guardian, Anthony Elanga is also transfer-listed and could command a £30 million transfer fee due to his contract expiring in June 2026.
