Grade 9 & 12 to Take National Exams As KNEC Renamed KNAC
By putting more of an emphasis on students’ abilities and capabilities, the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) was supposed to make it simpler for students to prepare for tests and get good grades.
The draught recommendations that have been developed by the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms (PWPER) indicate, on the other hand, that the fight for higher grade levels is not going to end anytime soon.
The PWPER has suggested the following format for the examination of learners:
The learner’s performance on the evaluation at the end of the sixth grade will not determine whether or not they move on to the junior secondary school.
Exams for the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) will be given to students in grades nine and twelve. These exams will be taken by the students.
Grade 9 & 12 to Take National Exams As KNEC Renamed KNAC
The group has suggested changing the name of the Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) to the Kenya National Assessment Council (Knac).
In the beginning, it was proposed that school-based assessments make up sixty percent of the total, but now there is a suggestion to reduce that percentage to forty percent.
This indicates that the learners’ performance on internal assessments will only count for forty percent of their overall mark, with the remaining sixty percent coming from their final exams.
