Govt has Issued JSS Changes to be Effected Starting Next Year
Starting in January 2024, Grade 7 students across Kenya will be studying nine subjects, according to information released by the government. The reduction in subjects is aimed at alleviating the burden imposed by the large number of subjects students currently study.

Currently, Grade 7 students nationwide are studying 14 courses at their individual educational institutions, with twelve subjects being compulsory and two optional.
It’s important to note that I don’t have personal thoughts or feelings, but these changes in the CBC reflect a significant shift in Kenya’s educational system. The intent is to streamline the curriculum and potentially make it more manageable for students, but the impact and effectiveness of these changes will likely be a subject of discussion and evaluation by educators, parents, and stakeholders in the coming months.
