Government to create 100,000 paid industrial internship opportunities
More than 100,000 internship opportunities will be created by the government in collaboration with the private sector.
The commercial sector would be given incentives to assist the plan, according to President William Ruto.
He pointed out that by providing the youth with the necessary skills, industrial training will assist close the gaps now present in the labour market.
“The Government will refund them Sh12,000 if they [the private sector] pay interns Sh25,000 a month.”
The President delivered the remarks at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani, Nairobi County, at the graduation ceremony for 3,500 youngsters who participated in the 2jiajiri Programme.
The KCB Foundation’s Programme aims to help young people establish microbusinesses by providing them with useful skills.
The President claimed that the government has made conscious efforts to provide young people with employment prospects after they complete their training.

The affordable housing project, counties aggregation and industrial parks, the internet economy, and special economic zones are just a few of the chances the government is generating, according to him.
The objective is to make Kenyans wealthier while reducing poverty and inequality.
According to President Ruto, in order to develop the institutions, the government has addressed the funding issues affecting TVETs.
He insisted, “We have raised the TVET budget so that we may increase opportunities for more to obtain technical skills.
The government, according to him, will also construct 15 additional TVETS and hire 17,000 tutors.
The President mentioned the US and the EU when stating that the government is looking to collaborate with development partners to increase the number of foreign markets for Kenyan goods.
We are trying to improve it and open up markets for other products because America is our biggest export market, he said.
