Government Lists Funding Requirements for University Students
For 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) students who intend to apply for government funding under the new paradigm, The University Fund has prepared a list of prerequisites.
The new rules were revealed by the fund’s management, who also pointed out that the paradigm at work here is a student-centered approach to expanding access to higher education for all students.
The University Fund offers students a range of financial aid choices, including bursaries, loans, and scholarships.
While scholarships are awarded to students who exhibit great academic performance yet require financial aid, loans are only accessible to students who satisfy certain financial requirements.
The amount of financial aid a student receives from the school depends on a number of variables, including their academic performance, financial need, and the particular academic programme they are enrolled in.
The University Fund, a government organisation with the responsibility to aid students seeking education at Kenya’s public institutions, was established under Section 53 of the institutions Act of 2012.

Government Lists Funding Requirements for University Students
Students will be categorized as either “vulnerable,” “extremely needy,” “needy,” or “less needy” under the new system.
Students in extreme poverty with no other means of financial support will be eligible for full government scholarships under the vulnerable category.
Students from low-income backgrounds who have limited financial resources to pay their tuition fees at various colleges and universities around the country are considered to be extremely needy.
To be considered financially needy, a student must come from a middle-income family, where the primary breadwinner needs to earn more money to support all of the children’s educational costs.
