Good News To JSS Teachers On Salary Arrears
The Ministry of Education has given JSS teachers their delayed salary as well as their current salaries assuring them that they will be paid in full by the end of this month.
“By the end of this month, the government will pay the teachers at Junior Secondary Schools all of the back salaries that they have accrued. The Principal Secretary (PS) for the State Department of Basic Education, Dr. Richard Belio Kipsang, remarked that the morale of those who instruct our students will increase as a result of this.
The Principal Secretary (PS) stated on Thursday in Eldoret that the government is making progress with capacity building of JSS teachers despite the fact that it has already employed 35,000 instructors.
Capitation
According to Dr. Kipsang, the distribution of capitation money to all schools will be completed by the end of the next week.
“Within a short period of time, and most likely by the end of the following week,” he continued, “we shall have released the necessary capitation for our primary, junior, and secondary schools.”
In addition to this, he said, “Once more, we have distributed 18 billion books to Junior Secondary Schools for students in Grade 7.”
In order to cover the costs of Free Primary Education and Free Day Secondary Education (FDSE), the government distributed Ksh17 billion in capitation money to public schools in Kenya in the previous school year.
Ezekiel Machogu, who serves as the Cabinet Secretary for Education, disclosed at the beginning of this year that the government paid out Ksh16 billion in capitation for secondary schools.
Machogu went on to say that every school would receive Ksh22,444 per student, while all primary schools would receive Ksh15,042 for each student in Grade 7 of the education system.
This past January, the government distributed Ksh9.6 billion, 15 million books, and 400,000 teaching guides for the Junior Secondary School (JSS).
According to the Ministry of Education, the school capitation needed to make FDSE a reality is Ksh22,444 in one year for each learner.
