A form three student aged seventeen is expected to appear before the court on 23rd of September 2020, for murder charges in Nyakach Subcounty. The teenage schoolgirl is suspected of stabbing his 20-year-old alleged boyfriend by the name Julius Odhiambo.
It is said that the incident occurred on 7th September this year at Polo Village in Nyakach after a disagreement between the two. Odhiambo succumbed to serious injuries at Kericho Hospital where he had been rushed for treatment after being referred by Nyabondo Hospital.
Confirming the incident, Nyakach Sub-county Police Commander Jonathan Koech said that Odhiambo who is a son of a senior ranked police officer in the County of Mombasa lost his life when getting treatment at the Hospital.
He said that he got information from the villagers that a 20-year man had been stabbed. He, however, said that he was not aware of the incidents that led to the stabbing although his team was doing the investigation to establish the main cause.
Mr Jonathan Koech urged parents and guardians to keep a good eye on the whereabouts of their children and continuously examine them time after time. He noted that for parents to know and understand their children's problems, they need to be closer.
At Nyando Magistrate Court, the form three student told the Senior Principal Magistrate Mr Samson Temu that they were friends who extended their relationship to dating.
According to the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) officer, the suspect has been in custody since she was arrested. The DCI officer however asked for more time to complete his investigation on the matter. He said he was not done with the investigation as the postmortem results of the late 20-year-old teen was yet to come out.
Mr Karanja noted that due to high tension at the suspect's home village in Nyakach and it would be safe to keep the girl for 14 days while carrying out investigations. The accused was ordered by Magistrate Temu to appear before the court after 2 weeks. The student is currently held at Pap Onditi police station in Nyakach.
