A form one student at Butere Girls High School, Kakamega reported missing since Saturday 15, May. The school management says it is a case of truancy.
For the past 5 days, Miriam Mutua, mother of the missing girl has been making frequent visits at Butere Police Station, in search of her 16-year-old Form one daughter.
The mother claims that her daughter contacted her by phone and told her three times that she was feeling unwell. She told her mother that she was not in school but in Mumias Town and before disconnecting the phone.
Her mother contacted the school administration which confirmed that the lady was not in school.
The school Principal Jenipher Omondi says the girl was in the company of other students who had gone to attend prayers in church and never returned.
“We have managed to see or know how the child managed to escape through the CCTV.”
She says her efforts to trace her has been futile urging anyone with information on her whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or at the school.
The matter has since been reported at Butere police station and investigations are underway. Mumias and Butere police stations have joined hands in investigating the case.
“Naomba serikali inisaidie mwenye ataona huyo mtoto atuitanie,” the mum says.
