Education PS Has Reiterated No fees Increment For university students

The administration has put an end to rumours that public universities will charge higher tuition rates to students enrolling in classes beginning in the following month.

In addition to revealing that serious actions would be taken against institutions that were found to have violated the established fee guidelines, the government revealed that it has authorised each of the 32 public universities to determine its own fees in order to raise sufficient cash for its operations. This was disclosed after the government indicated that severe measures would be taken against schools that were found to have violated the set charge standards.

Students and their guardians have expressed concern that the government may increase the cost of attending university, but Belio Kipsang has given his word that this will not happen.

Kipsang announced this at a speech he gave in Thika, which is located in Kiambu County. He claimed that the state will finance the education of around 45,000 university students, and those students who are able to pay will be charged a maximum of Sh22,000 every semester.

Kipsang reaffirmed on Friday that the government will fully implement the recommendations of the Presidential Working Group on Education, which include the establishment of a national open university. He made this statement while speaking to parents, students, and teachers at Chania Boys High School during a fundraiser for the construction of additional classrooms and dormitories. The funds raised will go towards the construction of additional classrooms and dormitories.

And the agency entrusted with placing students in public universities indicated that the new model, in which students enrolled in identical courses at different institutions would pay different fees, is meant to strengthen the institution’s autonomy for successful planning and operations. This was explained by the agency’s explanation of the new model.

According to Mercy Wahome, the chief executive officer of Kenya Universities and Colleges Placement Service (KUCCPS), the government has avoided regulating that public universities charge a uniform rate for courses that are comparable to one another.

According to Dr. Wahome, public universities are free to charge whatever tuition they see fit in order to maintain their position as a viable option for students.

According to Geoffrey Monari, Chief Executive Officer of the Universities Fund, the new model grants universities autonomy for more efficient planning and operations.

Because the government will no longer fund colleges with a monthly capitation payment, it is imperative that each and every university be able to maintain its operations going forward. He added that the only source of funding would be the student fees that were paid at the beginning of each semester.

Furthermore, Vice President Rigathia Gachagua disproved rumours that wealthy people would be the only ones able to afford university educations yesterday when she was speaking elsewhere.

According to the DP, the proposals made by the Presidential Working Team on Education Reforms insured that all students in the country, regardless of their socioeconomic standing, will have access to higher education in the future.

Under the proposed framework for the new university education system, no student would be turned away. According to Gachagua, “as the administration of Kenya Kwanza, we are able to assure parents of this.”

At the University of Eastern African Baraton’s 41st Commencement Ceremony, which took place in Nandi County, the DP encouraged students to keep their attention on their studies and to avoid abusing any kind of substances.
