Education Cabinet Secretary professor George Magoha commenced the process of facilitating access to textbooks by pupils in 1500 public primary schools and low-budget private schools when he flagged off a consignment of the books.
The about 826 000 books in total will benefit learners in grade 1
to 4 in the primary schools. Magoha said the books will be useful in
fostering the provision of quality education to all children in public schools in the country.
The exercise took place at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) on Friday. While thanking the U.S government for the support in the literacy program the CS noted that the contribution will go a long way
in facilitating the competency-based curriculum (CBC) which the government is in the process of rolling out
