Education CS George Magoha says the ministry is ready for the national assessment set to start in 3 weeks. He reiterated an earlier warning on school heads who plan to engage in exam malpractices warning that the law will not hesitate to catch up with them.
The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) will be held between March 22nd and 24th, while the form 4 candidates will write the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations from March 26th to April 21st.
On Grad 4 Formative Assessment, the CS said the assessment of the results may not be so different from the others that are ahead.
“The Assessment will start on Monday, and the assessments are not examinations. We are having a very friendly assessment of our children.
“This will be the first which will count for the first 20 per cent and so we want them to be done in the school environment over a number of days, no stress. Each child is given what belongs to the child.
“This examination has been set by the same set of people that have proofread the other 5… We will remember that the children were away for 5 months…
“It is not that it is going to be different or easier but we also want teachers not to sympathize with children. Let the children give us what they have and then the experts will decide what to do with them.” Said Magoha.
Education CS was speaking at Chavakali High School, Vihiga County where he advised the learners not to panic but to contextualize the KCSE exams set to commence later in March, this year.
