Disqualifying Aspects in the Upcoming KDF Recruitment
Disqualifying Aspects in the Upcoming KDF Recruitment. This year, in the months of August and September, there are plans to enlist Kenyans in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
KDF has since issued a statement cautioning the public against using unethical recruitment practises.
The annual exercise often draws a large number of applicants with a variety of traits and appeal.
Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi, vice chief of the defence forces (CDF), provided a list of prerequisites for the impending recruiting while making an appearance on local television.
Qualifications
Academic credentials are crucial, just like they are for every job need.
A candidate for the KDF must have earned at least a D on the Kenya Secondary Certificate of Education (KCSE), and depending on the category they want to join, higher grades.
“We look for three things in a recruit. According to Mwangi on Citizen TV you should meet the necessary physical requirements, be in good health, and possess the necessary documentation.
Mwangi also stated that in order to join the Defence Forces, a person must exhibit confidence by having faith in their ability to do the job.
In addition, candidates applying for the General Service Officer Cadet or General Service recruit job must be between the ages of 18 and 26.
Reasons short people are not accepted
The Vice CDF said that women must be at least 5 feet tall (5′) to apply as recruits, while men must be at least 5 feet and 3 inches (5’3).
“Short people are terrific, but there are standards that have been established and that apply everywhere, not only to the KDF. The personal weapons we use are over four feet long; trying to battle someone whose weapon is taller than you would be difficult, he said.
He asserts that people who enlist in the military but are shorter than average are more likely to fail the test of gaining the necessary 50 kilogrammes of weight
“We require you to carry a weight between 18 and 25 kilos, which will be half or three quarters of your weight, if you weigh less than 50 kg throughout training. You have to handle bigger burdens as the training progresses, according to Mwangi.

Birthmarks and tattoos
Additionally, the Vice Chief of Defence Forces cautions job seekers that employers may be attracted to birthmarks and tattoos.
“If you have a tattoo, you won’t be hired since the rules from the past will disqualify you. Birthmarks could be a sign of a skin structural deficiency. If you have a certain birthmark and it comes into contact with the weight, it could injure you and prevent you from training, he continued.
Medical checkups
Mwangi advised those interested in the position to undergo a comprehensive medical examination to determine whether they might have a condition that would make them unfit for the position.
“The medical examination reduces the likelihood of persons passing out on the recruiting queue. Despite the fact that an ambulance is always available to transport patients for medical attention, he said.
Women who are discovered to be pregnant throughout the checkup process are immediately eliminated
The recruit’s teeth should be entirely set and unblemished as an additional fitness.
Stammering
Mwangi added that because the position demands effective communication, people who stammer are ineligible for it.
People with criminal histories are also ineligible for the position since candidates must present their academic qualifications as well as other paperwork, such a KRA pin.
Mwangi also issued a public warning against employees who abuse their position by accepting payments in exchange for employment offers.
The exercise is slated to take place on August 28.
