Fresh information has emerged from a meeting between One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals on Tuesday, January 4 to discuss the status of their coalition.
The meeting at the Kalonzo Musyoka Command Center resulted in major resolutions that will be made public on Wednesday, January 5.
According to meeting details, the OKA principals resolved to keep the organization intact ahead of the August 2022 presidential election.
Among the resolutions reportedly made during the late-night meeting was the decision to move forward with the plan of fielding a presidential candidate among themselves.
OKA, which includes four principals, Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Kanu leader Gideon Moi, and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula, has insisted that they will not disband ahead of the elections.
The four OKA leaders also laid out a timetable for naming a presidential candidate who will represent the coalition’s interests in the future.
They reiterated Kalonzo’s earlier statements that OKA is strong and that their bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta when he steps down will be unsuccessful.
According to additional details from the closed-door meeting, Kalonzo and Mudavadi were also asked to explain their position on their recent affair with ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.
Mudavadi’s recent meeting with Deputy President William Ruto sparked speculation, with sources from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) claiming the two are discussing forming a coalition.
This was demonstrated further when Ruto attended a football match hosted by Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala in Mumias, Kakamega county. During the event, the Second in Command stated that Mudavadi asked him to attend the football tournament on December 31.
“I know Malala has been wondering why I arrived unannounced. Just know that there’s a league that Musalia plays that you are not there yet. The permission I got was from Musalia Mudavadi, so don’t worry yourself,” Ruto stated
Kalonzo, on the other hand, has been seen courting Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga for a partnership ahead of the elections.

Kalonzo, on the other hand, has ruled out working with Odinga following previous engagements in the NASA coalition, which resulted in a noisy, messy divorce and casualties.
The meeting was intended to force the two to declare their position on OKA’s fate.
OKA has already suffered major setbacks, with key figures abandoning the coalition to join Raila-aligned Azimio la Umoja. Ayub Savula, a Lugari MP, and Godfrey Osotsi are among those who have changed their allegiance.
