Delocalized Teachers to receive Transfer Letters, TSC Promises

Delocalized Teachers to receive Transfer Letters

All the teachers who were Delocalized will receive their transfer letters ahead of school reopening this coming week on 8th May 2023.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has promised to release the letters of those teachers whose transfers have been approved.

In some counties, details show that some teachers have started receiving their letters through the Regional Directors. Teachers will be required to collect the letters once they have been dispatched to the county offices.

Officials working with the Teachers Service Commission have indicated that most transfers have been approved for those whose transfers were acknowledged.

The commission had earlier promised to effect the transfers of about 21,544 teachers before schools reopen for second term.

The commission had a plan of approving the regional and inter regional transfers and release the transfer letters this May.

Those teachers who applied for transfers out of their regions were not approved by the commission in the last transfers.

The commission has received pressure to relocate the teachers back to their home counties.

While the TSC CEO, Nancy Macharia was appearing before the Senate Education committee, the CEO said the commission has put modalities in place that will see these teacher rerouted back to their home regions easily

The modalities that the commission has put in place will see teachers being rerouted with no restrictions like five years in a working station and a suitable replacement.

Initially, the commission could not grant you a transfer unless there are availability of vacancies in the station, existing staffing norms, medical grounds certified by the a registered medical practitioner and need for replacement.

However, while Macharia was appearing before the Senate committee, she mentioned that the transfers will be based on the need for equitable distribution and optimal utilization of teachers.

From the recent undertaking, it was established that most teachers seeking transfers preferred Nairobi City County than other places.

The Senate Education committee released a document that indicated that 36,277 teachers applied for the transfers between the month of November last year and January 31st this year.

The commission has said that out of the requests, 14,733 were matched and approved while 21,544 are still pending.
