David de Gea has given an update on his contract situation with Manchester United, considering Erik ten Hag’s position.
David de Gea’s contract with Manchester United will expire at the end of the season, and the Red Devils are now negotiating a new deal with the goalkeeper as Erik ten Hag investigates finding a replacement.
David de Gea remains optimistic about the outcome of his contract negotiations with Manchester United, despite Erik ten Hag’s intention to hire a new goalkeeper.
The Red Devils have opted not to trigger the one-year extension clause in the player’s existing contract, which expires at the end of the season. Instead, they are attempting to bind him to a new contract that will reduce his salary.
Ten Hag is also considering the prospect of acquiring a successor, as De Gea does not suit his playing style. De Gea experienced a rough start to the season, but has since rebounded impressively, posting 13 clean sheets in all competitions.
And despite the fact that United have been linked with a number of goalkeepers, De Gea insists negotiations between himself and the Red Devils remain continue. And he expects that these discussions will result in a positive outcome, as he has admitted to enjoying life at Old Trafford.

“We’re still discussing. I’m simply concentrating on the game, as that’s the most essential aspect, but I’m certain everything will end well. I’ve endured difficult times for this group. Now I’m enjoying it more, “De Gea stated.
“Winning games, especially here at home, it’s great to watch. I think it’s everything, a good manager, good players who bring experience to the team, people who want the ball, who play well with the ball. It’s a mix of everything.
” Everyone is ready, the people who aren’t playing much are training well, they’re ready to play and it’s great, we’re on a great run. It’s great, the spirit is great, the atmosphere is great.
“Everyone is thinking in the same way, playing in the same way. The team spirit is great from everyone, everyone fights until the end, and everyone is ready from the bench to perform well. It’s great to watch the team playing and performing well.”
Saturday, De Gea once again played a pivotal role in United’s victory over Crystal Palace. The victory propelled them over Newcastle in the standings, and De Gea praised his teammates for their tenacity after Casemiro’s dismissal.
“It was difficult, particularly after the red card. I believe we possessed excellent game management. In the first half, we scored fairly early, and the second half began similarly well. We got a second goal, but after the red card it was obviously really difficult “he added.
“We fought until the end and I think the team did really well. We defended really well because they put players in front. We conceded one goal but I think we won a massive three points today.
“For sure, it’s not easy when we lose Casemiro. Then they start to attack and score a goal with still 15 to 20 minutes to go, so I think we showed massive spirit today and great character.
“The whole team, including the players from the bench, have been amazing. That means we are doing really good things as a team and everyone is ready to play.”
