CS Machogu Opens KUCCPS Portal, Issues Directive to All 2022 KCSE Candidates
Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for education, gave the order to open the university application site on May 17 to The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
Every student who took the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education in 2022 will be allowed to apply for a variety of courses, according to Machogu.
The rest would apply for various courses provided in colleges and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutes. Those who received a C+ or higher were eligible for degree programs.
The 869,783 children who took the KCSE examinations in 2022 would benefit from a new funding scheme that President William Ruto declared.
Machogu stated while launching the portal, “KUCCPS will publish fee structures for all programs in the institutions to assist students in making decisions based on income levels, course preferences, and institution preferences.”
Additionally, Machogu stated that pupils would benefit from two levels of government support.
“Students may apply for government scholarships from the University Fund after being chosen. In addition, placed students will have the chance to apply for loans from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), which will be distributed according to a precise formula that will establish the loan amount to be granted, according to Machogu.
As a result, Machogu instructed KUCCPS to launch the application portal right away so that students may begin submitting applications.
“I made this order after determining that the placement service has complied with the requirements of the new funding model.
On Wednesday, May 17, all students will have access to the data since KUCCPS “has verified and published all fee details of their programs,” Machogu instructed.
While Machogu stated that all students who had a C+ were eligible for degree programs, if they so desired, they were free to select one of the diploma programs provided by TVET universities.
According to Machogu, “KUCCPS will collaborate with Huduma Centers across the nation to enable students to apply for the courses.”
“KUCCPS will publish fee structures for all programmes in the institutions to guide students in making choices based on income levels, course chosen and institution selected,” Machogu announced while opening the portal.
Machogu further announced that students would enjoy two tiers of government funding.
“Upon being selected, students can apply for government scholarship from the University Fund. Placed students will also have the opportunity to apply for loans from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) which will be allocated using a foolproof system that will determine the amount to be awarded,” Machogu explained.
Machogu, therefore, directed KUCCPS to open the application portal immediately so that students could start making applications.
