CS Machogu Employs Youth Who Disrupted His Speech at a Funeral
On Monday, a young person from Nyamira County was given the chance to work directly with Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu after rushing to the platform and delivering a moving appeal.
When the incident occurred, Machogu was speaking to mourners who had arrived to pay their last respects to the late Nyamaiya Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Elijah Osiemo.
The CS, who was at the platform when the event occurred, was ready to offer a member of Osiemo’s family a teaching position.
“You can see that he is currently signing the application for teaching. This neighbour is filling out a form and will be a teacher if there is a neighbour here who wants a teaching (career), Machogu said.
However, a small commotion made by the young person who was rushing to the stage after dodging numerous guards cut short his address.
The unnamed man approached the CS and bowed down before him, pleading to work for the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
After giving him three forms to his delight, Machogu turned to the audience and jokingly questioned, “Hasn’t the youth fought for himself in a good way?” That was a clue that he had landed the position.
The employment of the young people took place as the Commission promoted 14,000 teachers, which also included hiring principals and their deputies.

The TSC employed 346,760 tutors as of March 2023, and plans are well under way to recruit another 110,000.
TSC announced 18,000 openings for Junior Secondary School centres nationwide on Monday of last week. The most people were in Nakuru (698), then Machakos (655), Murang’a (635) and Narok (618).
Machogu was accompanied by Nyamira Funeral Scores at the funeral service for the late Osiemo, who also served as the majority leader of Nyamira County.
A fortnight ago, Osiemo perished in a car accident near Mai Mahiu Escarpment on the Mai Mahiu-Naivasha Highway.
His car, which was travelling to Nairobi, was engaged in the collision with a motorbike. Leg injuries were received by the rider.
