Counties With Most Under 12 KCPE Candidates Revealed.

The 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education has been released.

31,498 candidates who sat for the exam were aged 12 years old and below.

However, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu noted a decrease of 2,129 candidates from the 33,627 candidates in 2021.

According to him, the drop is a positive sign that parents are enrolling their children in school at the proper age.

Baringo, Wajir, Kericho, Bomet, and West Pokot Counties had the greatest proportion of under-12 candidates.

The biggest number of candidates, 885,162, were between the ages of 13 and 15, a trend that has persisted for the past five years, Mr. Machogu reported.

All 1,2 million candidates who took the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 2022 would be admitted to secondary school, according to Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekeil Machogu.

In accordance with the government’s 100 percent transition strategy, he stated during Wednesday’s publication of KCPE results that all 1,233,852 candidates who took the national exam are eligible for admission to Form One.

“All the candidates whose results I am releasing today will be admitted to Form One. There should be no case of a guardian or parent keeping their child at home when admission to Form One is opened up,” said Mr Machogu.

The best candidate in this year’s Standard Eight tests scored 431 out of 500 marks, he stated, but contrary to custom, CS Machogu did not name the top candidates during the official distribution of the results at Mtihani House.

There were 9,443 students with at least 400 marks.

A total of 307,756 candidates earned between 300 and 399 marks, while another 619,593 scored between 200 and 299 marks.

Another 296,336 candidates scored between 100 and 199 marks, while 724 scored below 100.
