A Class 7 (seven) pupil on Tuesday stabbed and killed his classmate with a kitchen knife following a dispute over a pen at their school in Kitutu Masalba, Nyamira County.
The boy 17-year-old boy is alleged to have engaged in a fight over possession of a pen with his 14-year-old deskmate at Bogwendo Primary School before they separated by the teacher on duty.
However, after the lunch break, the 17-year-old came back to school with a knife and stabbed his classmate in the chest, killing him instantly.
The accused tried to flee and hide the knife but was arrested and detained at Sengera Police Station in the Manga area.
Sengera OCPD Gabriel Mwangangi confirmed the arrest, saying investigations into the incident has begun. Irate villagers stormed the boy’s home and torched three houses belonging to their family.
No one was injured as the family members managed to escape during the chaos.
