Christopher Nkunku’s Bold Statement: “I Would Have Made £53m Move to Chelsea,” Regardless of Their 15th…
The France international arrived last month from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig.
He believes that Chelsea's disappointing season last year will not be repeated this year.
Nkunku asserts that he wishes to be the player who returns the Blues to elite status.
Christopher Nkunku has stated that he would have joined Chelsea even if they had finished lower than twelfth place in the previous season.
After months of speculation, the France international joined Chelsea in a £53 million agreement from RB Leipzig last month.
Nkunku claims that last year’s catastrophic campaign, in which Chelsea accumulated just 47 points in the league, was an anomaly, and he joined the club regardless.
In an interview with The Times, the 25-year-old stated,
“The season of Chelsea last year wasn’t good, everybody knows this.
“This year is a new project, new year, new season. I am the new project and I am happy to be here.”

Christopher Nkunku asserts that he would have joined Chelsea even if they had completed last season in last place.

The France international concluded his £52 million transfer to Chelsea last month.
“Even if Chelsea was 15th or 16th place, it doesn’t matter for me because I knew that the new season would not be the same as last season.
“The club is not in the European competition but I want to have a main role in the team. Chelsea proposed this project to me and I am happy with it.”
When questioned about being the catalyst to elevate Chelsea back to an elite status, Nkunku responded:
“This is my goal. This is the goal of the team, the goal of the club and the fans. I want the club to be where they need to be.”
