Chelsea Strikes Gold with Jorginho Replacement After Astute Move Following Arsenal Sale
According to reports, Chelsea has accepted a £12 million bid from Arsenal for Jorginho ahead of Tuesday night’s transfer deadline. The Gunners have reportedly offered £12 million for the ace. The Blues may have already acquired the Italy international’s long-term replacement, the 18-year-old Brazilian Andrey Santos.
Beginning in January, Chelsea paid £18 million to acquire Santos from Vasco da Gama after he impressed in his native Brazil. The teenager contributed to his hometown club’s promotion to the Brazilian premier league by scoring eight goals in 33 games to help them finish third in Brasileiro Serie B.
And after signing a contract in west London, the athlete stated, “This is a tremendous opportunity for me.” This is a major club competing in major leagues such as the Premier League, therefore I am really excited. I am thrilled to be here since the players are so talented.
Santos is a box-to-box midfielder who can score and create goals while moving up and down the field. Some have compared him to fellow Brazilian Douglas Luiz, who also graduated from the Vasco academy before playing for Manchester City and Aston Villa in England.
Before he is ready for the rigors of Premier League football, Santos will need time to mature at Stamford Bridge. However, when he does eventually break into the first squad, his energy and persistence might make quite an impression in the No. 6 position.
Jorginho’s contract with Chelsea expires this summer, and it appears that the club is prepared to cash in on the midfielder. Since joining the Blues in 2018 from Napoli, the 31-year-old has recorded 29 goals and nine assists in 213 games and has helped the club win the Champions League, Europa League, and Club World Cup.

On transfer deadline day, Chelsea was pursuing Argentine World Cup champion Enzo Fernandez, who had only been at Benfica for half a season. According to The Athletic, the Blues were unwilling to meet his release clause’s exact conditions. Fernandez agreed to personal terms with Chelsea, preferring a move to Stamford Bridge over alternative destinations.
Graham Potter’s Blues are struggling in the Premier League and have dropped to 10th place after winning just eight of their 20 matches this season. In the hope of signing one or two midfielders when the next opportunity presents itself, they will continue to watch all other available choices.
