Chelsea Secures Medical Appointment Following Fee Agreement with Brighton
Brighton and Chelsea have agreed on a £25 million transfer fee for Robert Sanchez.
After Edouard Mendy’s departure to Saudi Arabia, the goalkeeper was identified as Mauricio Pochettino’s preferable candidate to provide competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga, the club’s starting goalkeeper.
Sanchez, who lost his starting position at Brighton during the previous season, will now endure a medical examination after verbally agreeing to a long-term contract.
With the advent of the Spanish goalkeeper, young goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina will be able to go out on loan.
Sanchez was substituted for Jason Steele by Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi at the end of last season, despite the fact that he had made 90 appearances after breaking into the squad through the Seagulls’ academy and making his debut.
Next season, Sanchez is anticipated to vie with Kepa for the goalkeeper position at Chelsea.
When verified, he will be the Blues’ sixth significant addition this summer.
Alternately, if Axel Disasi completes his £38.6 million transfer from Monaco beforehand, he will be the seventh player to join the club.
