Chelsea Agree Deal: Ligue 1 Giants Secure Golden Boot Winner, Medical Tomorrow
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a star forward for Chelsea, is expected to join Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille in the coming days.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the acquisition of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang by Olympique Marseille is imminent. The Ligue 1 club and Chelsea have reached an agreement, and the 34-year-old will endure his medical tomorrow.
The French club was eager to strengthen their attack during the current transfer window. Aubameyang was one of their intended targets. They have been negotiating with the Blues for some time and have eventually reached an agreement for his services.
A few days prior, the athlete had already agreed to personal terms with the club. He is eager to sign a three-year contract and is prepared to relocate. Despite having an agreement in place with the player, Marseille were attempting to persuade Chelsea of a free transfer, and they were successful.
The player is scheduled to arrive at the French club’s training camp tonight, and he will endure his medical as a new Marseille player the following day.
The agreement appears to be beneficial for both organizations. Aubameyang was not in Mauricio Pochettino’s future plans, and he was earning a substantial salary at the London club. Consequently, his departure will assist them in balancing their accounts.
The French club, meanwhile, was in quest of offensive reinforcement and has secured the services of a striker who has proven his worth in clubs throughout Europe.
The 34-year-old gained prominence while playing for Borussia Dortmund prior to joining Arsenal. He appeared in a total of 163 games for the Gunners and contributed to 113 goals.
The former Dortmund forward moved to Barcelona in the winter of 2022, where he appeared in a total of 24 matches and contributed to 14 goals. The Gabon international joined Chelsea prior to the 2022-23 season, but things did not go as planned for Aubameyang at the English club.
The 34-year-old is poised to join the French club following a disappointing stint with Chelsea. Even though he hasn’t been performing at his best recently, the former Arsenal star can certainly turn things around. Given that his physical examination is scheduled for tomorrow, an official announcement should follow shortly thereafter.
