Brighton is reportedly interested in trading midfielder Moises Caicedo to Chelsea in exchange for striker Armando Broja this summer.

To acquire the Albion talisman in this transfer window, Chelsea will have to pay a minimum of £100 million.

According to The Athletic, executive-level contact has been made between the two organizations, but financial terms have not yet been discussed.

The Seagulls may also accept a marginally reduced transfer fee from the West London club in exchange for a player. Roberto De Zerbi was rumored to be interested in collaborating with Conor Gallagher, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano dismissed these rumors over the weekend (June 17 and 18).

Broja is yet another Chelsea player linked to Brighton as part of the Caicedo trade, as new manager Mauricio Pochettino continues to reduce his 38-man first-team squad.

According to Romano, however, the Albanian striker has not yet been discussed in Caicedo negotiations. It is believed that Pochettino would like to work with Borja during preseason before deciding his destiny.

The 21-year-old has been a member of the Chelsea organization since 2009 and made his debut in March of 2020, as a late substitute in a 4-0 home victory over Everton.

Broja spent the next two seasons on loan, tallying 11 goals in 34 appearances for Vitesse before netting nine times in 38 contests for Southampton in 2021/2022.

On his return to the capital this season, the Cobham graduate scored his first Chelsea goal in a 3-0 victory over Wolves before being ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury suffered in a friendly against Aston Villa during the World Cup international break in 2022.

Now that Broja has recovered from this setback, he will likely wish to remain at his hometown club and compete for a starting position.

However, if regular playing time cannot be guaranteed, the 6’3″ player may seek a new club later in the transfer window.
