BOM Teachers To Get Their Salaries Between Today And Friday

About 43,000 Board of Management teachers have been promised to recieve their money in the next 24 hours. The
Education Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Zack Kinuthia clarified yesterday that the goverment will release KSh1.72 billion lump sum to cover the teachers salary for the past 4 months.

He said that each teacher will be given KSh40,000 adding that the cash is already being  channeled to the teachers' individual accounts. The BOM teachers have been protesting online since last week due to the delay of this money which was promised to them by his excellency president Uhuru Kenyatta.

Some teachers had lost hope with this money terming the government as liars after Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha stood before the media claiming that all Board of Management teachers had been paid.

"This is a promise from the office of the CAS through consultation that the money is safely on transit to thcir bank accounts. It will happen whether it is today, tomorrow or Friday," said Kinuthia.

Mr Zachary Kinuthia was speaking during his inspection tour at Kandara Technical Vocational Centre, Murang'a county. He noted that the delay to Disburse money to BOM teachers teachers was led by submission of inaccurate information by school heads, which was meant to give the goverment a lose of KSh2.5 billion.

According to Kinuthia, head teachers had given the government a list of 106,000 BOM teachers, which could have led to a unprocedural payment of over 63,000 extra BOM teachers. He said that the state has been trying hard to pay BoM teachers as per the direction of President Uhuru Kenyatta but technical issues led to the delay.
