A school bus in Embu County has been torched by angry Bodaboda riders after it hit a man and killed him instantly.
Cases of bodaboda men taking laws on their hands after one of them being hit have been on the rise.
And in Nairobi, a motorist who hit and killed a pupil at a Zebra crossing point around the Langata Barracks on March 26, 2019, has been set free after paying a Ksh70,000 fine at the Kibera Law Courts.
Rodgers Omondi Ochomo was charged for dangerous driving and was fined Sh50,000 for killing the juvenile aged 7-years-old, and another Ksh20,000 for causing severe harm to the deceased’s counterpart.
Senior principal magistrate Philip Mutua had given Ochomo an option of a one-year jail term for causing death and 6 months in jail for harming the survivor.
Police officers who examined the accident were irritated by the ‘lenient’ penalties and say they want to file an appeal. Ochomo was out on Sh100,000 cash bail and which he converted part of it into a fine during the trial.
