Bayern is now close to signing a prospective €25 million-valued top player in a position where Chelsea is desperate.
This summer, there are not a lot of quality goalkeepers available on the market, which explains why Chelsea’s pursuit of a new starter has stalled.
Mike Maignan is obviously overpriced, and we appear to have given up on Andre Onana after concluding that Inter would not accept enough of our players in exchange. David Raya and Robert Sanchez appear to have fallen out of favor with our spies.
Giorgi Mamardashvili is unquestionably one of the few remaining truly excellent options. The Valencia goalkeeper is only 22 years old, but he has already made 56 first-team appearances for Valencia, for whom he has been elected the second-best player of the year twice.
We should keep a close eye on him, but it appears that we won’t be the only ones doing so.
According to a credible German football informant, Bayern Munich are “monitoring” the Georgian international.
They still have Manuel Neuer, Yann Sommer, and Alexander Nubel on their roster, but Mamardashvili has obviously impressed them to the point where they are willing to significantly alter their plans to acquire him.
Given that he only signed his first permanent contract with Valencia a year ago, they are in a very strong position, and he could prove to be prohibitively expensive for at least a year.
Similar to Bayern, all we can do is wait to see what Los Che ask for him. Transfermarkt values him at €25 million, but we expect that to increase rapidly, particularly if he continues to perform as he has since moving to Spain.
