Arsenal fail to heed David Raya transfer: Opening bid ‘submitted’ amidst signing warnings
Arsenal are seeking to acquire Brentford goalkeeper David Raya before the transfer window closes and have reportedly made their first official offer for the Spaniard.
Thomas Frank’s previous warning suggests that Arsenal’s first offer for Brentford standout David Raya will be unsuccessful.
This week, the Gunners have been linked to a move for the Spanish goalkeeper. With one year remaining on Raya’s contract in West London, Brentford is rumored to be willing to transfer him.
As a result of Arsenal’s interest, it appears that they have made their first offer to acquire him. According to reports, their initial offer is in the neighborhood of £23 million, with Brentford due to receive an initial £20 million plus a number of add-ons worth £23 million.
Although the Bees have yet to respond, it appears highly unlikely that Arsenal’s offer will be sufficient to satisfy the club’s leadership. Thomas Frank has already specified the amount Brentford would expect to receive for his services.
After the initial revelation of the ties, the Dane stated:
“He’s worth £40m – I’d love to get that for him. He was one of the four best keepers in the Premier League last season.
“What is the price for a player with one year left? Declan Rice went to Arsenal for £105m – is that a fair price? And Harry Kane, one year left, and they’re talking about £150m?

Mikel Arteta commented on Aaron Ramsdale’s Old Trafford future.
“Anyway, it’s not up to me. It’s always complicated. Two sides of the coin when it comes to negotiations and we meet somewhere in the middle.”
It remains to be seen if the Gunners will increase their offer for Raya. Following Wednesday night’s Emirates Cup draw with Monaco in North London, Mikel Arteta was questioned about his club’s interest in Brentford’s top player. He responded, “You are aware that I will not discuss any player who is not present. I apologize.”
Despite remaining tight-lipped on a potential deal for Raya, Arsenal’s manager remained effusive in his praise for Aaron Ramsdale following the match against Monaco. The Spaniard remarked,
“He was really good, really composed in the game.
“He didn’t have to intervene too much, I think the two actions, one was a goal that was very close range, one is the action where they have the cutback and they hit the post, and there was not much more to do. Everything he did in ball possession was really good.”
When asked if Ramsdale was still in his plans for the Emirates, Arteta responded:
“Yes, it’s still the same.”
Ramsdale, age 25, still has three years remaining on the new contract he signed in May. Since joining Arsenal from Sheffield United in 2021, he has made 78 appearances across all competitions.
