Arsenal are expected to reinforce their attacking options in the upcoming transfer window. Injuries to key players such as Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus have left Mikel Arteta with limited attacking choices. This situation has forced him to rely on Leandro Trossard, Raheem Sterling, and the young 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri to fill the gaps.

The Gunners are close to appointing Andrea Berta as their new Sporting Director, replacing Edu Gaspar. With his proven track record of bringing in top talent—having previously secured Antoine Griezmann and Rodri for Atletico Madrid—Berta could significantly influence Arsenal’s transfer dealings.

According to German outlet Bild, Arsenal are strongly pursuing Kingsley Coman, a move that could mark Berta’s first major signing at the club. Bayern Munich are reportedly open to selling the French winger this summer to stabilize their financial situation.

Initially, the Bavarian giants valued Coman at €70m (£58m) in April 2024. However, due to a lack of interest at that price, the asking fee has now been reduced to around €35m (£29m). Arteta is particularly eager to bring in a new winger and has identified the France international as a prime target for the Emirates Stadium. So far this season, Coman has managed six goals and four assists across 32 appearances in all competitions.

Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta’s Ambitious Plans

If Berta—who turned down AC Milan to negotiate with Arsenal—manages to complete this signing alongside Arteta, it would be a significant acquisition for the club. Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann, having coached Coman at Bayern Munich, has spoken highly of the winger, describing him as one of the best in Europe. Nagelsmann emphasized that Coman’s pace and acceleration make him a formidable asset when fully fit.

At 28, Coman remains at the peak of his career and is capable of playing effectively on either flank. His arrival would enhance Arsenal’s attacking depth, complementing their interest in Jonathan David. This potential move could provide Arteta with the quality reinforcements necessary to compete at the highest level next season.
