Unregistered KCPE Candidates to Sit for Exams

The Ministry of Education, under the guidance of Education Cabinet Secretary Cs. Ezekiel Machogu, has issued a directive that all unregistered Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidates will be allowed to take their examinations. This decision comes in response to reports indicating that some school heads failed to register learners for various reasons.

In light of this, CS. Machogu has announced that all candidates who faced issues with examination registration should report to their respective schools on Monday. Unregistered candidates will be given the opportunity to sit for their examinations.

The Ministry acknowledges that the challenge of having some learners from certain schools go unregistered has been a persistent issue. CS. Machogu has assured that actions will be taken against school heads who are found to have neglected their duties in registering candidates for these examinations.

Unregistered KCPE Candidates to Sit for Exams

This year marks a record high in terms of the number of students registered for the KCPE examinations compared to previous years. The 2023 KCPE examinations are significant as they are expected to signify the end of the 8-4-4 system, with the current candidates in class 8 being the final cohort under this old education system.

The KCPE examinations for 2023 are scheduled to take place over a three-day period, commencing on Monday, October 30, 2023, and concluding on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
