Going digital is no longer an option since we have crossed the Rubicon on this. All public universities must adhere to this non-negotiable baseline standard, and for very good reasons considering that the government has made digitalization one of its long-term goals, according to Bitok.
All state organisations, including universities, have until the end of the year to digitise their services, according to President William Ruto.
Public colleges will provide a variety of services through the e-Citizen platform, such as:
- New students’ application
- Course Registration
- Application for Transcripts
- Employer’s Graduates Verification and Verification of Documents
- Library Services
- Student Portal
- Scholarship Application
- Work Study Application
- E-learning Services
- Application for Examination Remarking
- Replacement of Transcripts and Certificates
- Application for Retake
- Clearance Application
- Student ID Replacement
- Bursary application
Over 5,127 government services are currently accessible on e-Citizen, and a similar number is planned to be fully online by December 2023.
The programme is anticipated to reduce corruption and theft, which are thought to cost the government millions of shillings in lost income, in addition to saving clients who seek government services time and money.
