Manchester United have reportedly shown interest in acquiring AC Milan’s standout goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The 29-year-old, who previously won the Ligue 1 title with LOSC Lille, made his move to the Rossoneri in 2021. Since arriving at San Siro Stadium, the Frenchman has experienced success, securing both a Scudetto title and the Supercoppa Italiana. Following Hugo Lloris’s retirement from international football, Maignan has taken over as France’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Despite his past achievements, this season has seen him deliver inconsistent performances. Furthermore, with only 18 months remaining on his current contract, his long-term future at AC Milan remains uncertain.
Fichajes reports that Manchester United have begun considering replacements for Andre Onana due to his error-prone season. The club has identified Maignan as their primary target for the position.
Onana, who joined from Inter Milan last season, has struggled with form, while his backup, Altay Bayindir, has not provided strong competition for the starting role. As a result, the Red Devils are looking to bolster their goalkeeping options. Manager Ruben Amorim’s team needs an upgrade in this area to reinforce their squad for the upcoming seasons.
