Sudan: RSF Defies Military Junta, Forms Rival Government Despite Global Backlash!

The Sudan Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have moved forward with establishing an alternative governance structure despite strong opposition from the country’s ruling military junta and the international community.

Early this morning at 2 a.m. in Nairobi, the Sudan Founding Alliance was officially formed, culminating in the inauguration of a body aimed at guiding the nation toward public order.

This charter was signed by approximately 20 political parties, civil society organizations, military factions, and other lobbying groups. A key resolution within this agreement is the proposal for the establishment of a new national army.

This newly formed entity aspires to halt the ongoing war in Sudan, combat terrorism, and strengthen diplomatic relations with neighboring states.

The gathering was acknowledged by President William Ruto, who praised the initiative despite allegations that the summit sought to create a rival government.

Organizers of the summit clarified that their primary aim was to provide a platform for meaningful engagement among stakeholders and facilitate solutions to the ongoing crisis.

Regional Reactions and Official Statements

In a statement made this evening, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi expressed his views on the development through his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

He commended the signing of the peace agreement and the establishment of a unity government by Sudanese political parties, civil society groups, and military factions.

He described it as an encouraging step toward restoring peace, stability, and democratic governance in Sudan.

Kenya reaffirmed its unwavering support for Sudanese-led and Sudanese-owned solutions, emphasizing that inclusive dialogue remains the only viable path to achieving lasting peace.

Mudavadi also highlighted the dedication demonstrated by all participating parties, stating that their commitment proves unity and progress can be realized even under difficult circumstances.

Participants in the Sudan peace process acknowledged President William Ruto’s firm stance against external pressures and misleading narratives surrounding the summit’s objectives.

They asserted that the roadmap established in Nairobi reflects Sudanese leaders prioritizing national unity over division. The statement further commended the resolve and courage exhibited by those embracing dialogue in pursuit of the greater good.

Despite these developments, concerns persist regarding the implications of the RSF and its allies’ decision to sign the agreement without addressing the issue of parallel governance.

Notably, the Prime Cabinet Secretary’s statement did not specifically address this contentious aspect. As the situation evolves, further exploration will be necessary to fully understand the broader implications and what this means for the region as a whole.
