Gachagua Vows Nationwide Protests if Chief Justice Koome is Removed.
Former Deputy President Gachagua has issued a stern warning, stating he will lead nationwide demonstrations if Chief Justice Martha Koome is forced out of office.
Speaking during a church service in Meru County, he declared his commitment to unseating the current Members of Parliament (MPs) and President William Ruto in the 2027 elections.
He asserted that the people had grown tired of the government’s leadership and accused the administration of targeting the Chief Justice for standing against what he described as excesses by President Ruto.
While attending the service at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Igembe North, Meru County, Gachagua emphasized that Mount Kenya’s leadership was being undermined by the current administration.
He expressed strong disapproval of Ruto’s governance, stating that the people would not passively watch as the region’s political influence deteriorated.
According to Gachagua, the continued attacks on the judiciary, particularly on Chief Justice Koome, were unacceptable and politically motivated.
In response, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki and Environment Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya dismissed Gachagua’s threats. They challenged him to go ahead with his protests, maintaining that the President had the right to visit any part of the country and engage with all leaders.
Kindiki advised Gachagua against resorting to street-level rhetoric, reminding him that the judiciary should not be dragged into tribal-based politics.
The cabinet secretaries emphasized that judicial independence must be respected and that appointments or dismissals should not be influenced by ethnic considerations.
Political Ambitions and Future Elections
Gachagua did not stop at criticizing the government; he also took a jab at the current Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, particularly dismissing his consultative meetings at the official residence in Karen.
He declared his ambition to rally over 100 MPs in the next elections, reinforcing his determination to remove President Ruto and his allies from power.
With his sights set on the 2027 general elections, he maintained that the mission to push Ruto’s administration out was firmly in motion.
