Subject Combinations Banned By TSC From Employment
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has prohibited hiring graduates from a number of teaching degree programs. The grads had enrolled in the programs in the expectation of being hired by TSC, but those dreams have since been dashed. However, it has been suggested to the graduates to look for work elsewhere.
Graduates who chose to major in disciplines that are no longer included in the curriculum are among those who are impacted. No matter if they have completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and/or Enhancement, applications for registration of graduates whose expertise is in subjects that are currently NOT in the curriculum are disqualified. In its current Registration Guidelines for new teachers, the Commission makes this statement.
The majority of these graduates pursued postgraduate degrees in education in order to qualify for employment with TSC. TSC has, however, tightened the nut on its plan to streamline the teaching industry. The definition of teaching as a noble profession has been tightened, and anyone desiring to enter the field can now find guidelines.
The Teachers Service Commission has now provided explanations for why these graduates were not registered. Even those who have completed these courses with a postgraduate degree in education have been excluded. According to the commission, these courses don’t cover the necessary amount of material. As a result, there is not enough subject mastery in the two learning areas.
The TSC will register bachelor’s degree programs in the arts or sciences that have a PGDE in two teaching disciplines. For numerous graduates of these courses who had hoped to be registered and hired by the Teachers Service Commission, this communication has been a pain in the neck.
All graduates who have pursued the following learning areas are no longer qualified to work with TSC.
