Manchester United’s Hunt for Defensive Reinforcement: Exploring Bayern Munich’s star as a Solution to the Harry Maguire Void…

Manchester United are in contact with Benjamin Pavard of Bayern Munich as they search for a replacement for Harry Maguire, with Jean-Clair Todibo of Nice and Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen also on the shortlist.

Benjamin Pavard has been designated as Harry Maguire's ideal replacement.

Jean-Clair Todibo and Edmond Tapsoba are also on the consideration of Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United has inquired about Bayern Munich’s French defender Benjamin Pavard, who is valued at £30 million, as they seek to replace Harry Maguire.

United have also spoken with Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo and Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba.

Pavard is eager to transfer, and United have also contacted Todibo and Tapsoba.

West Ham and Manchester United have reached an agreement in principle on Maguire’s transfer for £30 million, though the player’s personal terms have yet to be negotiated.

Pavard has been designated by United as the ideal replacement for their former captain.

The Frenchman’s contract at the Allianz Arena has one year remaining, and he has no plans to secure an extension.

West Ham and Manchester United have reached an agreement in principle to acquire Maguire for £30 million.

Pavard confronts stiff competition for a starting position in Thomas Tuchel’s team next season after Napoli’s Kim Min-jae was acquired in July.

Erik ten Hag highly values his versatility as a right-back and a central defender as he seeks to bolster the depth of his backline.

The 27-year-old joined Bayern in January 2019 for £30 million from Stuttgart.

Over the span of four seasons, he has played 162 games for the Bavarian giants in all competitions.

He has also earned 49 caps for France and was a member of the 2018 World Cup-winning squad.

Todibo and Tapsoba are the other candidates on Ten Hag’s list.

Jean-Clair Todibo is significantly less expensive than Tapsoba; the 23-year-old is valued at £25 million.

In 2021, Tapsoba was briefly linked with a transfer to Old Trafford.

United have since rekindled their interest in the 24-year-old after Tottenham abandoned their pursuit.

Since his transfer from Vitoria de Guimaraes in 2020, he has played over 100 times for the Bundesliga club. In 2021, he was named to the Africa Cup of Nations Tournament Team of the Tournament.

The cash-strapped Red Devils may have difficulty affording his asking price. The center-back is valued by Bayer Leverkusen at £43m.

Todibo has been linked with a move to United all summer, but their interest has intensified now that Maguire appears to be leaving.

United is believed to have discussed a prospective transfer with the player’s brother and agents.

The 23-year-old is reportedly available for significantly less than Tapsoba, with an estimated asking price of £25 million.
