Chelsea Introduces Talented Brazilian Wonderkid with Plans for Loan to Strasbourg
During this transfer window, Chelsea’s youth movement has been intriguing to observe.
After finishing in 12th place, Todd Boehly and company are constructing a long-term project comprised of emerging talent from around the globe.
Angelo Gabriel is one of their more recent wonderkid signings, and Chelsea could add one of his erstwhile teammates this summer.
Fabrizio Romano confirms the Brazilian allegations that Chelsea has made a £17 million offer for Deivid Washington of Santos.
Romano believes that Santos will accept the offer, and Washington is anticipated to join Strasbourg, a Ligue 1 club recently acquired by Todd Boehly.
Deivid Washington, hailed as a player of the future, is just beginning his professional career.
Washington made his début for Santos in the Copa do Brasil against Botafogo-SP in the 89th minute.
The majority of his appearances for Santos in the Brasileiro Serie A have come off the bench.
He has scored twice in nine encounters. Washington also participated in the Copinha, a prestigious junior tournament held annually in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, in 2023.
He tallied three goals in four games, helping Santos reach the semifinals.
Washington recently turned 18, making him immediately eligible to travel to Europe.
Even though he has become a prominent young player in Serie A, Washington has not yet represented Brazil at the junior level.
However, this is likely to change once he moves to Europe.
Once the transfer is finalized, Deivid will join Angelo Gabriel and Lesley Ugochukwu as players who could potentially spend the season on loan with Strasbourg.
According to The Premier League, Chelsea has an additional striker target who, if signed, would likely be loaned to Strasbourg.
This is the French striker Elye Wahi, for whom Chelsea must now compete with Eintracht Frankfurt.
