The Frenchman appears uninterested in extending his PSG contract.
The Ligue 1 champions, on the other hand, want him to depart this summer so that they do not miss out on a substantial transfer fee.
Mbappe controls the majority of the cards in this situation.
With just one year remaining on his contract, he could opt to see it out and become a free agent next summer; however, it would be preferable for him to depart PSG if they do not want him.
Whether he departs this summer or the following, Real Madrid appears to be his most likely destination.
However, clubs such as Chelsea have also been associated to a possible transfer.
According to SPORT, Mbappe would only be interested in a one-year loan or transfer to Chelsea, but the move would not benefit either club.
The Blues have also been willing to discuss a one-year loan as a potential solution.
Mbappe, a target of Real Madrid, is willing to join Chelsea on one condition.
It remains to be seen if Mbappe will spend a year at Chelsea. Intriguingly, he had an audition with the Premier League club in the past, but was ultimately not signed by Stamford Bridge.
It would make sense for Chelsea to sign Mbappe on loan for a season, and it would also enable the player to leave PSG.
Alternatively, a temporary exit would be preferable to nothing if PSG cannot agree to a transfer for the Frenchman this summer.
