Pochettino ‘worried’ Chelsea are repeating identical mistakes that cost Graham Potter job
Mauricio Pochettino may be dissatisfied with his squad despite the fact that Chelsea has undergone a significant rebuilding this summer, with 16 players leaving the club.
Despite the club’s enormous exodus so far this summer, Mauricio Pochettino is ‘worried’ that Chelsea’s squad is still too bloated.
Since the beginning of the transfer window, Todd Boehly has assisted in the departure of 16 Chelsea players, resulting in over £200 million in transfer fees.
Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, and Mateo Kovacic are among the most expensive transfers, while Kalidou Koulibaly and Christian Pulisic have also left the club for a substantial sum.
Despite these departures, Pochettino named a 29-man squad for Chelsea’s preseason tour of the United States, which included matches against Wrexham, Brighton, Newcastle, and Fulham.
The Argentine prefers to work with a core group of 23 players, who can be supplemented by academy players.
Last season, Graham Potter was compelled to leave players out of first-team training and remove some from the dressing room due to the sheer size of Chelsea’s squad.
The former Brighton manager was dismissed in April due to a string of poor results that lead to his dismissal.
According to the Daily Mail, Pochettino is concerned that the same errors are being made in preseason and wants to sell a number of players before the season opener against Liverpool.
On August 13, Chelsea play their first competitive match of the new era against Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Mauricio Pochettino is concerned with Chelsea’s roster capacity.
To satisfy Pochettino and his coaching staff with less than two weeks to go until the match, Chelsea will need to perform a feat of wizardry.
Romelu Lukaku and Hakim Ziyech are anticipated to leave the club, with Juventus and Al-Nassr vying for their services.
West Ham has shown interest in Conor Gallagher, but Mauricio Pochettino stated last week that he is content working with the English midfielder.
Pochettino also acknowledged that Chelsea needs to acquire more midfielders, but that transactions must take place first.
He declared on July 26:
“We need to add some player there [midfield]. We need one more with experience.
“That is the idea. We are working, the club is working on that.
“At the moment we are working to reinforce that area and other areas also. The players that are here on the tour are in our plan.”
