As Chelsea won the Premier League Summer Series, Mauricio Pochettino experimented with Christopher Nkunku in a different role and fielded a new midfield partnership.

Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Fulham in Washington, D.C., secured a trophy for the Blues, who have been outstanding in preseason play under their new manager.

In Washington, D.C., Nkunku and Thiago Silva’s first-half goals defeated Marco Silva’s side, which played poorly for the entire match.

Nkunku’s versatility is impressive across the board.

Nkunku has excelled in all three preseason roles he has been asked to perform.

The 25-year-old played up front in the last three games, but against Fulham he was deployed on the left flank and as a no. 10 player.

Nkunku scored his third preseason goal in four games during his first minute on the wing.

There is no doubt that he will be prominent under Mauricio Pochettino, but he will likely feature in a variety of positions next season, given that he has excelled wherever he has played.

Thiago Silva’s superiority

The game’s first goal was scored by Silva, who nodded in Ben Chilwell’s corner kick during an outstanding first-half performance.

He, along with the entire backline, was substituted at halftime, but still made an impression defensively and in possession, allowing Gabriel Slonina to make a quiet début as a teenager.

Wesley Fofana’s injury has pushed Chelsea closer to acquiring Axel Disasi for £39 million from Monaco.

Next season, Disasi will compete directly with Silva for a starting position, and it will be a daunting challenge for him to unseat the legendary defender.

An initial glimpse at the Enzo-Andrey turnabout

Enzo Fernandez and Andrey Santos started as two no6s for the first time in Chelsea’s 4-2-3-1 formation.

The duo dominated Fulham for the first 45 minutes, allowing Chelsea to dominate possession and avoid Marco Silva’s side’s counterattacks.

Moises Caicedo, a midfielder for Brighton, has made little progress in his pursuit of a transfer to Manchester United. As a result, it appears that they will start against Liverpool on August 13 as a unit.
