Fans spotted Gabriel Martinelli and Edu following Arsenal’s contract renewal.
Arsenal’s morale is already rather high, but a sweet photo of Edu hugging a little Gunner has further boosted it. Gabriel Martinelli won’t likely cause any harm.
Gabriel Martinelli has extended his stay at Arsenal by signing a new four-and-a-half year contract, to the delight of Gunners technical director Edu.
The fellow Brazilian is a Martinelli aficionado and has advocated for him numerous times in public. Gunners fans online captured a nice moment between the pair after the Arsenal star signed a contract, rejoicing in the solid bond between the two.
In the majority of the images of Martinelli signing his new contract provided by Arsenal, he is accompanied by a huge group consisting primarily of his fiancée, family, and manager Mikel Arteta. The most poignant photograph, however, is one of him and Edu alone.
The Brazilians are seen in an embrace, with Martinelli still seated while Edu, who appears to be a father figure, wraps both arms around his compatriot in celebration of the 21-year-long-term old’s commitment to the club.

After the agreement was officially confirmed, Edu said on the Arsenal website: “The fact that Gabi has signed a new contract with us is fantastic. Gabi’s contract extension is fantastic, as our team’s foundations continue to be built upon young potential.
“Gabi is still just 21, and a player with big ability and personality. He is an important part of our future and we’re delighted that we have agreed a new contract.”
It was a sentiment echoed by the player himself, who admitted he “loves everything about Arsenal.”
Martinelli, who was acquired from the lower levels of Brazilian football in 2019 as a teenager, has experienced a spectacular rise since arriving in North London.
The forward could scarcely contain his excitement as he spoke to the club’s official media about his arrival and early days with Arsenal.
“I remember I was so, so nervous and I couldn’t speak one word of English!” he chuckled. “It’s even worse because you couldn’t even talk to the guys and I remember that I didn’t understand anything the guys were saying to me.
“I remember when I got the shirt and I saw the badge, I was so proud and so happy. I still have that feeling when I wear it.”
If all goes according to plan, Martinelli will wear it until at least the summer of 2027, however the Gunners’ new contract includes a one-year extension clause that may keep him with Arsenal until 2028.
