Mikel Arteta confirmed that neither Thomas Partey nor Emile Smith Rowe will be available for Arsenal’s Premier League match against Everton on Saturday.

The Gunners will travel to Goodison Park in the early Saturday kickoff seeking to extend their five-point advantage atop the Premier League table, since Manchester City will not play until Sunday.

Gabriel Jesus and Mohamed Elneny are both long-term absentees, and Arteta announced on Friday that Smith Rowe will also be unavailable due to a thigh injury.

Partey’s rib injury, which he sustained against Manchester City in the FA Cup last week, will be more troubling for Arsenal’s manager.

The midfielder may play for Everton, but the Spaniard was unable to confirm whether or not he will be available on Merseyside.

Let’s see, this one is still uncertain. Let’s see how he does today and whether he can workout with the team. Arteta said at a press conference on Friday, “We will make a decision.”

‘He’s not ruled out and it’s nothing very significant, but it was significant to get him out of the game, which for Thomas is a bit unusual. Hopefully he will be fine.’

Partey has been a key part of the league-leading team’s midfield this season, but if he is unable to play on Saturday, newcomer Jorginho might make his debut for Arsenal.

The Italy international joined from Chelsea just before the transfer window closed and may replace the Ghanaian immediately if he is injured.

Smith Rowe’s miserable season continues as the 22-year-old has appeared on the bench in each of his five Premier League games.

Even though competition for positions in Arsenal’s front four is tough, injuries have impeded his development, and he will have to wait again for an opportunity to make an impression.
